Emergency Preparedness

Action Plan for June: Spiritual

  • Understand the need for not only physical or temporal preparation, but the need for developing and strengthening our spiritual preparedness to meet challenges with faith and perseverance.
  • Spiritual and emotional strength and resiliency are key to surviving disasters, whether natural disasters or the disasters of life.  Spiritual and emotional strength and resiliency do not just appear without effort any more than do water, food, or shelter.  These resources also require up-front, purposeful preparation, as often exemplified by the Parable of the Ten Virgins

Plan, Prepare, Practice:

  • The great test of life is to see whether we will hearken to and obey God’s commands in the midst of the storms of life.”  Elder Henry B. Eyring, (Oct. 2005)
  • This talk provides an excellent framework for continuously strengthening and renewing our spiritual preparedness.
  • Review Brother Eyring’s talk.
  • Seek the guidance of the Holy Ghost to know how you can best practice “filling your lamp”
  • Consider the checklist suggested on the Riverton Central Stake Emergency Preparedness website.

Primary Activity Days - First and Third Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm at the Church

Youth Book of Mormon Reading Challenge

We started a Book of Mormon challenge at the beginning of March, and the goal is to read from the Book of Mormon every day!  The youth were given a reading chart and asked to mark off the days they read…it does not have to be consecutive days…we have rewards for 21 days, 60 days, 100 days, 150 days, and 200 days.  When the youth complete one of these benchmarks, they can talk to a leader to get a reward! They do not need to read a certain amount, 1 verse, a chapter, for a certain amount of time; whatever they feel they can read each day is all that is asked.  We invite all youth to participate!

Latter-Day Prophets Speak

“The Power of Spiritual Momentum,” President Russell M. Nelson

General Conference, April 2022

We are followers of the Prince of Peace. Now more than ever, we need the peace only He can bring. How can we expect peace to exist in the world when we are not individually seeking peace and harmony? Brothers and sisters, I know what I’m suggesting is not easy. But followers of Jesus Christ should set the example for all the world to follow. I plead with you to do all you can to end personal conflicts that are currently raging in your hearts and in your lives.”
